I think what makes the experience at Columbia Engineering so unique is the type of individual that is attracted to this environment. We come from across the world to not only learn an engineering discipline, but also to explore the breadth of opportunities offered from a true liberal arts education. I was transformed by the range of educational experiences and the dynamics of the environment, and those who were by my side are those that became my roommates right of college, the individuals I ran to when I was struggling through that first job, and those who are always present at the happiest moments in my life. For me, Columbia was a life-changing experience, and while many different facets of this school contributed to that, it was my peers–those who were by my side during those early morning programming sessions, that last minute paper write-up, and those late night lab ventures–that defined the experience.
