Too Much Fun for Grad School

Too Much Fun for Grad School

2011 Cathy Chen

I used this picture for a Facebook profile picture sometime my third year of my Columbia SEAS tenure, and immediately got a comment from a friend that went to another graduate school (why would you ever do that?) that said “You are having WAY too much fun in grad school.” And that, in a nutshell, is a fairly accurate summary of my time here. When asked what my favorite memory of Columbia SEAS was, I didn’t come up with a singular event, but rather, a plethora of experiences that have made my time here at SEAS the best four (and counting!) years of my life. From meeting PhD Comics artist Jorge Cham to rubbing elbows with a real-life Astronaut Mike Massimino to helping start a series of socials for graduate students to becoming a (sort of) YouTube star (4000 views so far!), the SEAS experience has truly molded me into the person that I am today and SEAS is forever tied to my best memories in life. So here’s to you, SEAS, for making my graduate school experience too intellectual, too amazing, and way too much fun!
